Holy shit, this video makes me love Bloomington.  I didn't get to go to this show because I was meeting my buddies in Harry and the Potters for the first time instead, so I've got no regrets.  Still, watch the part at the beginning where Red slides down the bowl to watch them play.  Truly, truly badass.

changing my train of thought

The past is past past past past past past past and there's nothing I can do about it and thinking about it doesn't help.

the mistakes I made are past past past past past past past past and at least I was doing the best I could at the time.

the mistakes other people made that affected me are past past past past past past past past or at least I can make it so.

I can keep on doing better

i love my footstool

It has been said that a person cannot build even a foot-stool for the home without building into it something of his own personality. It may be roughly made and poorly finished—but it "belongs," it is part of the family circle and gives a pleasure which the finest factory-made article cannot approximate.

4th Good Luck show

I have tons of things I need to post about, including the insanely wonderful time I spent in canada last week, but for now, a flyer for my band Good Luck's show on Tuesday.

Once again, printed by the ever gifted printmaking student andrew maxson.  Go andrew!  woohoo!

Also, this picture sums up my happiness at playing in Good Luck in general:

This is the "business" card crystal made me to take to the Prophecy Conference that we are going to next week where we will present formal programming to a couple thousand Harry Potter fans.  Now really my "business" is nothing other than indulging in my fanaticism in ways that I totally enjoy, but I guess I will soon have at least a few decent things on my harry potter resume:
  • Organized a 2 hour long class in 2006 at plan-it-x fest that dealt with the major theories of how jk. rowling would tie up plot threads in book 7.
  • Helped to organize book 7 release party at boxcar books including themed refreshments, a wizard duel trivia game that cathy and I worked tirelessly on, and a predictions quiz that I later had to grade 50 of.
  • Presenting an hour long formal presentaion at international harry potter conference in Canada on wizard rock.  Entailed lots of research and interviewing Harry Potter themed bands for hours and hours.
  • I'm writing a pretty in depth review of the final book for the Boxcar Books newsletter.

by the way, I think this is all hilarious.  I did most of these with lots of help from Crystal or other people.  I'm ready for more bullets.

good luck 2nd show

My new band Good Luck's 2nd show! Look how small we are on the flyer. heh. We played our 1st show last night at about 2 am in a video store in downtown Bloomington, Indiana. hooray!

I am trying to read "Portnoy's Complaint" by Phillip Roth. It is not very good. What the hell? But I beat on anyway, boat against the current, born back ceaselessly into the past. heh. book humor.

Golden Compass Daemon

Take this really really short quiz about my personality because it will improve the accuracy of my Daemon. I don't really know what that is since I haven't read the Golden Compass yet, but I will at some point, and then I'll wish I had a Daemon, so please just do it. Come on, all the crap on the internet is boring anyway, just skip checking your myspace for the 50th time today.

I have been working on lyrics and reading what people are writing about the last farmhouse show all night. I feel totally nuts, as one is want to do after staying up until 8 am.

On the lyrics side I wrote lyrics for two entire good luck songs, just about finished a One Reason song that I have been working on for ages, and wrote an entire verse and chorus to another future One Reason song. For the snail in slow motion pace that I normally work on lyrics this is like a total breakthrough. This One Reason song is going to be really good I think. Very intense, but it feels good to write it. I hope people can handle it. I hope they don't think it's too much. You can't think about that though. Just write what you've got to write and let people deal with it.

oh my god. feeling so crazy and need sleep.

Fuck the hype, still loving Bloomington.
